Select folder
Click Add New filing (in the upper right)
If you are current in a list view (e.g. My Filings, All Filings), you will be asked to choose a folder for the new filing
You may choose an existing folder or create a new one
If you are currently viewing a folder, Falcon will assume that you want to place the new filing in the current folder
New filing pop-up
- You may change the folder
- Choose the Filing type
Client reference and project
These optional fields will be prefilled with default values from the folder, if populated at the folder level. Prefilled values can be overwritten for this one filing
Jurisdiction
Jurisdiction is required and will also be prefilled from the folder, if set at the folder level. Jurisdiction can be changed here for this one filing
For state filings, choose a state and leave the county field empty
For county filings, choose a state and select a county within that state, or enter a county and allow Falcon to populate the state based on the county
Filing method
Filing method may depend on jurisdiction; some allow only electronic while others allow only paper filings. If both are available within the jurisdiction, Falcon selects your preferred method, which you can override for this filing
Drafting method
Prefilled based on your personal preferences. This too can be changed here for this filing
Optional services
Choose the desired optional services. These options are also prefilled based on your personal preferences and can be changed for this filing
Cover letter note
Create a cover note to go with your filing. Falcon offers a generic cover note that can be modified
Wizard-prompt flow
The wizard-prompt flow presents a series of questions and populates your UCC forms automatically
1. Debtors
The left section of the screen shows the fields previously populated. Hover over each icon to see what each field represents
On the right side, find a pull-out section with instructions
Populate the first Debtor
- Use the Address Book (upper right) to use previously saved debtors
- Manually enter an individual or organization as a debtor
- You may save your new entry in the firm’s address book
- Add more debtors
Note:
Entries in the address book can be edited or deleted using the Administrative Tools icon found at the upper right of all screens
If you enter more than two debtors, Falcon will automatically create a UCC1Ad (Addendum). If required, Falcon will create UCC1AP (Additional Parties) as well
Click next and enter Secured Parties
2. Secured Parties
This screen behaves the same as the Debtors screen
Click next and enter Collateral
3. Collateral
Use previously saved collateral found in the Collateral Book. Or manually enter collateral and optionally save it to the collateral book. Attach files if required
Note:
Entries in the collateral book can be edited or deleted using the Administrative Tools icon found at the upper right of all screens
If filing electronically, Falcon will warn you if you’ve entered too much text for collateral, based on the specific jurisdiction’s limitations. You will have the choice to shorten the entry or to switch to paper filing
Click next and complete the UCC1 form
4. Other
Note that the Optional filer reference data field is populated with the Client Reference. This is due to personal preferences setting
At the end of the wizard, you can edit the UCC form itself directly
UCC form
The Falcon wizard created multiple UCC1Ad Addendums to accommodate the collateral text
Choosing the in-form drafting method will bring you directly into the above electronic version of the UCC form. All fields, including those on the left, are editable. The Address Book and Collateral Book can be used within this form. New entries can also be saved from this form into the Address and Collateral books
You can manually create a UCC1Ad (Addendum) or a UCC1AP (Additional Parties)
If you’ve entered Collateral text that is too long for the UCC1 form, Falcon will alert you to shorten the text or can automatically create a UCC1Ad (Addendum)
When satisfied, submit your filing to Platinum Filings. Choose whether to receive a quote or whether to instruct Platinum to proceed with filing the UCC in the specified jurisdiction
